Per-variant build dirs fixed the cross-compile staleness, but the FIRST build of a cold variant can still occasionally hit ESP-IDF nested-build flakiness (cmake / bootloader / managed-components / sdkconfig). These are infrastructure failures, never user code, and clear on a retry once the variant dir is warmer. Retry the attempt once when the failure matches infrastructure markers (not a user-sketch or missing-library error). Cheap via ccache + ninja incremental. |
